Birthday-Ethan’s fish M64

64-birthday-Ethan---

The image is rice paper which I cut around because several of the same images come on one sheet.

I colored under and around the boat with dye inks to look like water. There was already water close to the boat, but I wanted more.

I wasn’t too fond of all the white above the boat and on the other side of the trees but didn’t have time to figure out what to do about it.

I frayed around the whole image so it wouldn’t look quite so stark against the background.

The fish seems to look like it has dimension, but it’s actually as flat as the background. I gently painted the fish with Tim Holtz Distress Glaze which makes the colors so vivid they appear to have dimension.

The card is made from blue card stock which was run through the Spellbinder’s Cast Away 3D embossing folder.

I dipped my finger in some waxy paint I had and ran my finger over the tops of the rope looking image.

This is the inside of the card. This was a series of fish stamps, seagull, and fish skeleton that were all included with one stamp of which I’d had in my stash for quite some time.

If I’d allowed myself more time, I’m sure there were things I would have done differently, but my 10 year old grandson loved it so much, he wanted to frame it.
