Halloween-Grumpy Pumpkins M17

Again, this was another beginning Copic Marker trial for me. (I’ll get the hang of using them eventually.)

The rubber stamp is from Stamping Bella called “Oddball Pumpkin Pile.”

The image was colored on white card stock then glued onto a piece of plaid cardstock on an A2 card.

A few random sequins were attached to the card.

Hmmm, that looks like burned places around the edge of the card. Uh, yes, it is. I’ve used this technique (learned from watching Martha Stewart do the technique) on silk and satin ribbons in making fabric flowers for decorative pillows. The burning seals the edges of the ribbon but gives a unique curled effect.

Believe me, I ONLY DO THIS NEXT TO A SINK FULL OF WATER.

But, back to the card—I thought I’d see what it would look like on a card. You simply take a lit candle to the edge of the paper and quickly touch the edges so it burns but does not catch fire.

The burning gives a nice aged effect, but I think the exact thing can be done by lightly tearing the edge of the paper, then sponging or brushing stamp ink around the edges—-far easier and SAFER to simply shade the card with ink.
