Spreading something over a stencil sounded so easy there was no way anyone could mess up. Well, I guessed wrong. This card was about my tenth try at spreading a glue like something to create a image.
The stencil is beautiful. The green substance was beautiful, but as with anything, it takes a little practise.
I did start laughing at myself because every time I picked up my stencil, I smeared the green–all over the paper, the stencil, my hands!
I haven’t done too much more like this, but I want to. Just not enough time to do everything I want.
The red berries were purchased with adhesive on the back but I added glue for caution.
The white cardstock is heavy weight metallic cardstock. The green is a product called Christmas Tree Green Paper Glaze from Picket Fence. I have many colors of this paper glaze and am eager to experiment more.
The main thing I was doing wrong was spreading the glaze with a palette knife used in my high school art class. (That was definitely from the last millennium.) It had gouges and indentations and nicks all along the edge. No wonder I couldn’t get a smooth finish on the leaves.
The Merry Christmas was stamped with red pigment ink, sprinkled with red embossing powder, then heat set. Super tiny green rhinestones (also bought in the last millennium) were glued among the letters.
