I had fun making this birthday card for my husband this year. He loves colors that pop and likes seeing my using glossy accents on cards, so I incorporated both on this card.
The metallic edge along the tops and bottom were cut out of gold card stock using Tim Holtz’ deckle edge paper cutter.
The balloons as well as the heart shaped balloon (can only see part of the heart in this view) were die cut out of Altenew glossy card stock.
Ranger Glossy Accents are then gently dribbled on each balloon. These accents create a dimensional glossy finish. The gloss builds and runs so that there is dimension, but somehow it always stays put on whatever you are dribbling it on.
Each balloon is set aside to dry several hours. Most of the balloons did well with the glossy accents, but occasionally, the gloss with develop a tiny bubble in it.
The strip of hearts was also die cut using Simon Says Stamp Heart Chain die which is one straight heart die that has multiple hearts.
I used the metal heart strip die on Neenah 80 lb card stock and cut about 5 different sets, then glued them one on top of the other in order to give some depth to the heart images.
I used the heart strip die to cut the Altenew glossy print cardstock images. The die cut then made separate hearts of which I glued each individually inside the dimensional white hearts.
I was pleased with how this card turned out because when I start a card, I sometimes play around with it one thing at a time not really knowing where I’m headed. Sometimes I have an exact end result in mind, and sometimes it’s just play as you go to see what materializes.
